UV Print on Steel, Chemically corroded
94 x 83 cm
A fragment of a displaced time combats the sharp edges that have compressed visual narratives.
Considering the Draughtsman of the Reclining Nude by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), we are faced with a form of compression. Images, like the drAUGHTSman, are locked into grids. The reclining nude however presents the organic forms which survive beyond this compression.
For a photo to possess such organic structure, it needs to be faced with an element. Photo edges are traditionally where we see an ethereal condition through the artist’s material process.
The object presented is demonstrating a culmination of battles against time, digital and physical processing, and a sense of displacement commonly found in the grid locked platforms images inhabit today.
